21.06.2007 - THIRD ANNUAL LESSONS – LEARNED CONFERENCE ON COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
On June 9-10, 2007, Cherkasy State Technological University hosted the Third Annual Lessons-Learned Conference on Community Economic Development “Community Economic Development: Ukrainian and International Experience”. The goal of the Conference was to enable participants to review, sum up and share their CED experience in Ukraine and to learn about other successful CED practices both in Ukraine and abroad.

21.06.2007 - JOINT STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING
The fifth meeting of the CED Project’s Joint Steering Committeee took place in Cherkasy on June 11, 2007. In addition to representatives from the CED Project’s partner communities, the meeting was attended by CIDA representatives and a representative from the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. Participants discussed the whole range of important issues related to the planned activities for April, 2007 – March 2008, issues on sustainability strategies and wind-up of the Project.
21.06.2007 - STUDY VISIT TO POLAND AND SLOVAKIA
On June 17, 2007, leaders of CED partner communities started their ten-day study visit to Poland. The second group will go to Slovakia between 5 and 15 July. These groups will familiarize themselves with successful examples of community economic development and will visit CED organizations.
21.06.2007 - INTERNSHIPS ON GREEN TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
The CED Project is planning to organize internships to learn about best practices in green tourism development in the central and southern regions of Ukraine. In preparation for the internships Tony Berezowecki, the CED Project Manager, will visit Kherson on June 22-24. He will have meetings with a representative of Hromada Credit Union and head of Oberih Khersonshchyna Green Tourism Cooperative.
21.06.2007 - COMMUNITY FUTURES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIONS MODEL PRESENTATION
July 2007: The Regional Governance and Development Project, managed by the Canadian Urban Institute (Toronto) and financed by CIDA, is organizing workshops to present Community Futures Development Corporations models. The workshops will be held in Zaporizhzhia and Uzhgorod. CED Project partners will also participate in the workshops, which will be facilitated by Barry Lake, Alberta program manager for Western Economic Diversification Canada.
16.05.2007 - MONITORING MISSION
On April 12-27, 2007 a team of two evaluators contracted by CIDA, Jerry Rogers and Pieter van Gils, were in Ukraine and met with CED Project partners.

15.03.2007 - ROUNDTABLE WAS HELD ON THE RESULTS OF THE SENIOR STUDY VISIT TO CANADA.
On March 5-6, 2007 a roundtable was held on the results of the Senior Study Visit to Canada (Nova Scotia and British Columbia) which took place in autumn 2006 within the framework of the CED Project. The Project Manager, Tony Berezowecki, opened the round table by reviewing the definition of CED as any collective action taken by a community to improve its economic and social life while protecting the environment and avoiding damage to the interests and efforts of other communities.

30.01.2007 - THE FIRST PILOT DELIVERY OF COURSES IN COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
Starting in January – February 2007, the first pilot delivery of courses in community economic development will be made by the West Ukrainian Resource Center in Lviv Oblast, by the resource center of ANGO in Cherkasy Oblast, and the charitable foundation Centre for Civic Initiatives in Perechyn Rayon (Transcarpathia). These courses will be delivered on site in the CED Project’s partner communities.

30.01.2007 - ROUNDTABLES ON STUDY VISITS.
In the autumn of 2006, the CED Project implemented study visits to Canada for about 40 community leaders and senior government and university officials. Participants in the study visits studied the Canadian experience and models of community economic development in Nova Scotia and British Columbia.

18.12.2006 - NOVEMBER 24 – DECEMBER 15 THE PROJECT CONDUCTED A STUDY TOUR FOR COMMUNITY LEADERS TO CANADA.
The overall goal of the study visit was to increase the sustainability of CED initiatives in Ukraine by helping community leaders understand how the concept of CED is applied in Canada and how local governments, independent agencies and community-based organizations and the private sector cooperate in CED initiatives.
